On the same 3D2N departure, cabins on Magika run from USD 310 to USD 520 per person — a spread of USD 210, or about IDR 3.8 million. Everything outside the cabin door is identical: same route, same crew of six, same meals, same tenders. You are buying bed, view and floor area, nothing else.

Vessel data and rates on this page come from the operator’s published Magika rate card and specification sheet and were checked on 1 August 2026. Rates are reviewed annually and move with fuel, route changes and regulation. Ask for the current sheet in writing before you transfer a deposit.

Set those two tables against each other and the pricing logic is visible: the premium tracks bed size, ocean aspect and — in exactly one case — a balcony and a bathtub. It does not track service, food, itinerary or crew attention, because those are shared by everyone aboard.

The four decisions that actually matter

1. Bunk or bed?

This is the largest real-world difference on the card and it costs USD 120 per person between Superior and Deluxe Ocean. Superior cabins are two bunks; Deluxe Ocean is a queen. For two friends splitting cost, bunks are entirely reasonable. For a couple, three nights in separate bunks is a different holiday from the one they think they booked.

2. Ocean aspect or not?

Master, Signature and the three Deluxe cabins are ocean-facing. On a boat that anchors somewhere new each evening, waking up to the view is a larger part of the experience than it sounds on paper. It is also the difference between USD 460 and USD 340.

3. Do you need the balcony?

Only the Master Ocean has one, along with the only bathtub aboard. At USD 520 per person it carries a USD 60 premium over Signature Ocean. For an anniversary or a honeymoon, that is the cheapest meaningful upgrade on the card. For a diving trip where the cabin is somewhere you change and sleep, it is money that would be better spent on the extra night.

4. Does the family fit in one room?

The Family cabin — a king plus two bunks, four berths — is USD 400 per person, less than a Deluxe Ocean. A family of four in one Family cabin pays USD 1,600. The same family in two Deluxe Ocean cabins pays USD 1,840. One room is cheaper and, for children under about twelve, usually better.

What does not change with the cabin

Worth listing, because cabin-class pricing invites the assumption that a better cabin buys a better trip. It does not.

  • The route. Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo or Rinca, Karang Makassar, Taka Makassar, Siaba, Kanawa. Same for every berth.
  • The crew. Six crew for the whole boat — 1:3.7 at a full 22-guest load, 1:2.7 at sixteen.
  • The food. One galley, one menu, cooked aboard.
  • The tenders. Everyone lands in the same shifts.
  • The park fee. IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor, regardless of cabin.

When should you skip the upgrade and buy the extra night instead?

Almost always, if the choice is binary. The gap between the cheapest and dearest cabin over 3D2N is USD 210 per person. The gap between a 3D2N and a 4D3N whole-boat charter for a small group is USD 1,300 total — but it lowers the per-night cost from USD 2,875 to USD 2,350 and adds a full day in the sheltered northern bays.

Put another way: a couple who upgrade from Deluxe Ocean to Master Ocean spend USD 120 for a balcony. A couple who keep the Deluxe cabin and add a night get an extra sunrise, an extra dive site and the calmest water on the route. Both are defensible; only one of them is a new day. We make the case for that fourth day in the sheltered-bays guide.

How to check dates and book

Tell the reservations desk who is sharing with whom before you ask for a price. Cabin allocation, not cabin class, is what usually saves money. Magika’s calendar is held by the reservations desk at Komodo Luxury, the operator that markets and charters the vessel — trading since 2015 and part of Juara Holding Group.

Ask for the rate sheet, the cabin allocation and the deposit ladder in one written message. Anything an operator will not put in writing is not a policy.

Frequently asked questions

How much difference is there between Komodo liveaboard cabin classes?

On Magika’s 3D2N open trip, USD 310 to USD 520 per person — a spread of USD 210, roughly IDR 3.8 million. The route, crew, meals and tender access are identical across all cabin classes.

Is the most expensive cabin worth it?

It depends on the occasion. Master Ocean at USD 520 is the only cabin with a private balcony and a bathtub, a USD 60 premium over Signature Ocean — cheap for an anniversary, unnecessary for a diving trip where the cabin is only for sleeping.

What is the cheapest way for four people to sail?

Two Superior cabins with bunks at USD 340 per person — USD 1,360 in total for 3D2N. A family of four in one Family cabin is USD 1,600; two Deluxe Ocean cabins are USD 1,840.

Is a Family cabin cheaper than two separate cabins?

Yes. The Family cabin is USD 400 per person, so four people in one room is USD 1,600 against USD 1,840 for two Deluxe Ocean cabins. It sleeps four on a king plus two bunks.

Should I upgrade my cabin or add an extra night?

Usually the extra night. Upgrading across the whole cabin range costs USD 210 per person for 3D2N, while a fourth day lowers the per-night charter cost from USD 2,875 to USD 2,350 and adds the calmest water on the route.
