Choosing

Booking and customisation

When planning a liveaboard trip, research operators thoroughly — safety records, crew experience and environmental policies. Many operators offer customisation, particularly for private charters or larger groups, allowing tailored itineraries and service levels. Most require a deposit at booking, with the balance due weeks or months before departure.

Beyond the price

What actually decides the experience

  • The quality of the dive guides.
  • The condition of the diving equipment.
  • The variety and standard of the food.
  • The comfort of the cabins.
Budget separately
Marine park fees are a mandatory additional cost on most itineraries, particularly in protected areas such as Komodo National Park and Raja Ampat. They fund conservation and vary by region and duration.
