Meet your Magika liveaboard specialist

Every enquiry is handled by one person at the Komodo Luxury desk in Labuan Bajo — the same team that provisions the boat, holds the cabin plan and confirms the rate in writing. Not a chatbot, and not a call centre in another time zone.

The job

What a liveaboard specialist actually does

Six things that are genuinely hard to work out on your own, and are settled in one conversation.

Match the month to the sea

April–June and September–November are calmest; July–August is peak but windy around Padar; December–March is monsoon and peak manta. The wrong month is the most expensive mistake in Komodo.

Build the cabin plan

Nine cabins, 22 berths, and an uneven mix by design. Bunk versus queen is the single most common source of group friction — it gets settled before the deposit, not on the dock.

Find the right rate band

Charter rates are flat inside 1–5, 6–10, 11–15 and 16–20 guests. One extra guest can move you a whole band — or make the whole boat cheaper per head than shared cabins.

Get the galley right

Allergies, vegan, halal, gluten free, child portions. Provisioning happens ashore in Labuan Bajo, so the list has to be in writing at booking.

Set diver expectations honestly

Castle Rock needs advanced certification and a reef hook. Siaba Besar suits a first open-water dive. Being told that in advance is worth more than being sold three dives a day.

Show the full cost

Park fees at IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit, drone permits, alcohol, gear rental, gratuities. All excluded from the charter, all budgetable in advance.

How it works

Three messages, usually

Tell us the shape of the trip

Dates or a date range, headcount, sailing or diving, whole boat or shared cabins, and any dietary or accessibility needs.

Message 02

We come back with real numbers

The applicable band rate, a workable cabin plan, what is included, and what to budget for park fees on top.

Message 03

You confirm, in writing

Rate and inclusions confirmed in writing before any deposit is taken. Allocation sheet agreed before payment.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

What makes a liveaboard different from a day trip?

Reach and timing. A day boat from Labuan Bajo can deliver Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo. It cannot deliver Manta Alley, southern Komodo, or a sunrise on the Padar ridge with nobody else on it — because the long legs are sailed overnight while you sleep.

Can beginners join?

Yes. Snorkelling and island guiding are included on every package and suit all levels. For diving, tell us your certification and logged dives and we will match the sites — Siaba Besar for early dives, Castle Rock only for advanced divers.

How do you handle safety on the water?

Life jackets for the full manifest, a briefing at boarding and before every dive, GPS navigation and an emergency generator. Route and stop decisions rest with the captain and change with tide and wind.

Do I have to book through an agent?

No. Rates, dates and availability are handled directly by the operator’s reservations desk, and everything is confirmed in writing before any deposit.

One conversation is usually enough

Send your dates and headcount. You will get the rate, the cabin plan and an honest answer about whether that month is the right one.
