Magika is the boat large groups book when they want everyone on one deck. A 26.74-metre wooden phinisi with nine en-suite, air-conditioned cabins and berth capacity for 22 guests, she is the largest-capacity group vessel in the Komodo Luxury charter fleet — sized for wedding parties, family reunions, dive clubs and company retreats that refuse to split across a flotilla of small boats.
Who charters a 22-guest phinisi
- Wedding parties. Deck dining, a sound system, and the Master Ocean balcony cabin for the couple. The ceremony ashore in Labuan Bajo, the celebration under sail in the national park.
- Family reunions and multi-family holidays. The Family cabin plus bunk Superiors solves the children question without splitting the party across boats.
- Milestone birthdays and anniversaries. One table, twenty-two chairs, Padar at sunrise.
- Dive clubs and company retreats. Divers, snorkellers and the one who refuses both can share the same itinerary — tenders run separate programmes.
Cabin capacity: how nine cabins sleep 22
Magika’s berth arithmetic is uneven by design — that unevenness is what makes it work for real groups where not everyone travels as a couple.
| Cabin type | Cabins | Base berths | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master Ocean (balcony) | 1 | 2 | The honeymoon or guest-of-honour cabin — the only cabin with a balcony and bathtub |
| Signature | 1 | 2 | Upper-deck position, full glass |
| Deluxe | 3 | 6 | Queen or twin configuration on request |
| Family | 1 | 4 | Sleeps parents plus children in one cabin |
| Superior (bunk) | 2 | 4 | Compact bunk cabins — the value rungs |
| Studio | 1 | 2 | Lower-deck compact double |
Trundle and bunk berths lift the total capacity to 22 guests across nine cabins. Bunk versus queen is the most common source of group friction — lock the cabin allocation before the deposit. The exact berth mix for your party is confirmed on the cabin plan at booking; full detail is on the suite plan and crew ratio page.
Published prices per person
Two ways to fill the boat, both with published numbers:
Shared open trip (3D2N) — from USD 310 per person
Shared departures put you on a manifest at USD 310–520 per person for 3D2N, the fare depending entirely on the cabin class you pick. The itinerary is identical for every cabin — see the cabin-by-cabin open trip cost breakdown.
Whole-boat group charter — the per-person math
| Group size | 3D2N whole boat | 4D3N | 6D5N | Per person per night (6D5N) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 guests | USD 6,450 | USD 7,900 | USD 11,300 | ~USD 283 |
| 12 guests | USD 7,150 | USD 8,900 | USD 12,800 | ~USD 213 |
| 16 guests | USD 7,750 | USD 9,950 | USD 13,850 | ~USD 173 |
| 20 guests | USD 7,750 | USD 9,950 | USD 13,850 | ~USD 139 |
| 22 guests (max) | USD 7,750 + 2 × USD 400 | USD 9,950 + 2 × USD 450 | USD 13,850 + 2 × USD 500 | ~USD 135 |
Charter rates are banded at 1–5, 6–10, 11–15 and 16–20 guests, with a per-person supplement above 20. Because the vessel rate is flat within each band, the cost per head falls sharply as the group grows — at full boat the six-day cruise works out near USD 135 per person per night. Full band tables are on the whole-boat pricing page; deposit and cancellation terms are on the rates and policy page.

Large-group FAQ
How many guests can Magika take?
Up to 22 guests across nine en-suite cabins — the highest berth capacity of any group vessel in the fleet. How the arithmetic works is explained in how 22 guests share one 9-cabin phinisi.
Charter or open trip for a large group?
From roughly 11 guests up, the whole-boat band rate usually beats eleven separate open-trip fares — and you control the itinerary. Below that, shared departures at USD 310–520 per person are the value play; compare shared departures across the fleet at Labuan Bajo Liveaboard.
Can we run a wedding on board?
Yes — deck dinner, sound system and the balcony cabin for the couple. For shoreside wedding planning, villas and event support around Labuan Bajo, see Labuan Bajo Luxury.
What if our group is smaller than 8?
Couples and small parties are often better matched to an intimate boat: compare Yumana Liveaboard or Neptune Cruise in the same fleet, or take open-trip cabins on Magika.
